What is Cosmetic Dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry is a branch of dentistry that focuses on improving the appearance of your smile. Although it can, it does not necessarily help the functionality of your teeth, gums or bite. Its primary focus is on improving your dental aesthetics such as color, position, shape, size, alignment and overall smile.

Treatment Can Repair:

Cosmetic Procedures

Whitening

Teeth whitening is the process of brightening or enhancing the color of the teeth. The goal is for the teeth to have a more bright and even color.

Bonding

Bonding restores the appearance and functionality of a damaged tooth in a less invasive procedure than dental implants or crowns.

Veneers

Veneers are a solution to help you achieve the look you desire. A popular choice for those with chipped teeth, a gap between teeth, or misshaped teeth.

Bridges

A dental bridge is a false tooth which is attached to the teeth on either side to create a “bridge”. Making sure you stay proud to show off that smile.

Crowns

A crown is an artificial tooth or “cap” which replaces a missing tooth. It fills the gap where the missing tooth was so that your smile looks natural.

Dentures

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Two types of dentures are available, complete and partial.

FAQs

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions we have about cosmetic dentistry.

Cosmetic procedures are virtually painless as we will apply a local anesthetic before beginning your treatment. This will ensure that you feel no discomfort while Dr. Toups works on your smile. While you may feel some sensitivity during your recovery period, this usually subsides on its own and can be managed with over-the-counter medication.

The exact cost of cosmetic dentistry depends on several factors. This includes what procedure you’ll be undergoing, what dental issues are being corrected, and the current state of your oral health. Our staff will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan to help achieve the smile of your dreams and give you all your options for cost.

While most insurance companies likely won’t cover your cosmetic procedure, we recommend contacting your insurance company to get an accurate understanding of your coverage as everyone has different plans.

During your appointment, we will be able to provide you with an accurate estimate of the cost of your treatment.

We do offer in house dental plans that may help you get  the procedure done and we also take care credit, if you would like to apply click here

A patient may be sore for two to three days from fixed bridges, dental bonding, or dental crown placement. There will be some tenderness in the gum tissue. Being gentle with the treated teeth is important to keep the restorations in place. Over the counter medicines will help with the recovery.

There is no perfect answer for this. Just as every smile we treat is unique, so are the treatments we provide. While cosmetic treatment times may vary, some treatments are completed within one office visit.
